Rides home

One of the complications of not having a car and riding my bike everywhere is the rain. The only thing I hate about it is drops of water on my glasses – it makes it completely impossible to ride in the rain if vision is a high priority. Yes, I should probably get a helmet that has a visor, but Im too broke so don’t freak out on me.

The only thing I find amusing is that the same friends who went out of their way to let me know how perfectly-ok it would be for me to ask them for a ride home if I should need suddenly feel the need to give me a 10 minute guilt complex every time I take them up on the offer. Suddenly, if I don’t live on their exact route home I’m “not on the way” and the exchange rate for taking jefferson instead of airline is 8 minutes of hearing how bad traffic is and how this way is so much longer than the other way.

It already feels like a big imposition as it is just by asking, so really, you can just say no. I’ve made my bed if you want to call it that; I’m content to lay in it. I’ve ridden my bike and taken the bus in the rain many times, it’s not that big of a deal. Just don’t tell me it’ll be peaches and cream to get a ride once in a awhile, then dump a tall glass of sour milk on me when I ask. :)
